The Journey
-WE ARE HERE FOR YOU-

What to expect

Welcome to Level 1 Board & Train Camp,

A dog’s mindset is crucial to the success of the Journey. The consultation can tell us a lot about your dog, but often it takes more time to really get to know them. Dogs are not robots with remotes. This is where we step in and take your hand (and paw) and set The Structure that supports your daily micro-interactions.

Yes, we refine & teach commands, but it’s not the act of following commands we consider results. We use commands as our tools to build The Structure.

The Structure

Our philosophy is built on the foundation of positive reinforcement. This method requires a greater investment of time, but the results are worth the wait.

We customize every dog’s program to specifically fit the needs and the requests of their master.

Once we show the dog the structure, we can build confidence and shape a positive attitude…then we can show our dog the world.

The Attitude

The Attitude is the difference between ‘have to’ and ‘want to’ obey.

Here we focus on creating a dog who wants to happily follow commands anywhere and anytime! We will identify any underlying causes for undesirable behaviors and address them accordingly to ensure the dog is able to thrive wherever you may go on your Journey.

Partnership

Recommended for new and experienced dog owners. K-9 Specialists focus on educating not only your dog, but also with an utmost importance on educating you the owner and how to understand and interact with your dog for a life-long successful relationship!

This is an educational program individually tailored to you and your dog.

The Program

This program covers a wide range of obedience skills and necessary building blocks for a well-mannered mindset dog. This training sets the stage for preparing for off-leash training & beyond.

The first week of the Level I Training Camp is dedicated to developing a relationship and identifying what your dog needs to succeed. Depending on your dog’s readiness after 2 to 3 weeks, we prefer to schedule a few training sessions with you to visit your dog and participate alongside your trainer.

Here is where we set The Structure and guide the dog to make positive decisions because they ‘want-to.’ We instill the positive choice by positive reinforcement, creating desired engagements. Repetitive habits build the dog’s good character and confidence so the dog will know the correct response given any environment or interaction.

When your dog completes their custom program, they will understand how to behave despite the environment. Your dog will be able to perform the following four commands on-leash in a language of your choice: Come, Sit, Down, and Heel. Upon pick-up of your dog, you and your dog will receive a closure session, which will prepare you for the transition back home.

Your dog will have a refreshed mindset, established positive attitude pathways, and willingness and excitement to please. You as the master will gain the positive reinforcement tools and knowledge of how to guide your dog in your Journey.

Your Journey has only just begun!

Evaluation
    • We start with a full evaluation of the dog so we can understand their temperament, training level, mindset, personality, and identify strengths and weaknesses. It’s very important that we get to know your dog so we can invest quality and customized training to best advance your dog.
    • After the first week, you can expect a personal phone call from one of our handlers. This phone call will inform you of your dog’s evaluation and how we will customize our training program to advance your dog and address his/her needs.
Environmental Soundness Exposure
    • Based on your dog’s evaluation, we want to introduce textures and objects such as tile flooring, carpet, mirrors, escalators, elevators, busy streets, stairs, etc. It is important that your dog reacts positively and is comfortable in wide variety of environmental situations. We will want to make sure your dog is confident in public, private, quiet, and loud places. This package begins the introduction process of environmental soundness.
Socialization
    • It is vital that your dog knows appropriate behavior around other people and animals. We want your dog, as well as who and what you allow your dog to interact with, to have positive experiences without negative reactions. This package begins the introduction process of socialization.
Random house trainHouse Training
    • Your dog will have appropriate habits while living with you in your home. Upon completion, your dog will build positive experiences with being crate trained. He/she will be happy to go to their crate because it’s their ‘bedroom.’ The crate is a den to your dog, a place of safety and rest. And we will invest in teaching your dog to relieve themselves outside if they don’t know how to do so already.
Basic On-Leash Obedience
    • Showing dogs correct behavior and obedience takes time for your dog to learn and understand what is expected of him/her. Your dog will develop confidence and want to perform basic commands. These commands can be customized to any language you choose. This program lays the foundation for the next step of off-leash training.
Playtime
    • Here our trainers invest quality one-on-one time with your dog. Playtime helps build confidence and fosters the relationship we share with dogs. Trainers will interact with your dog and engage with customized attention and will use balls, petting, training games, etc.
